Who May Apply?
Grants are made to not for profit, charitable, scientific, religious or educational organizations in Monroe and Chickasaw counties. Beneficiaries of grants must reside in these counties. It is our preference that the organization receiving the grant also be located in the these counties. An organization eligible to apply for a grant is:
A tax exempt organization described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code that is not a private foundation described in Section 509(a);or
An exempt operating foundation described in Section 4940(d)(2) of the Internal Revenue Service Code; or
An organization described in Section 170(c)(1) or Section 511(a)(2)(B) of the Internal Revenue Service Code.
The submitting organization must ensure that the size of the grant from the Gilmore Foundation will not cause the organization to convert to a private foundation under Internal Revenue Service regulations.
Grants are not made to private foundations described in Section 509(a) of the Internal Revenue Service Code, private or publicly held corporations, limited liability corporations, partnerships, subchapter “S” corporations, or individuals. National projects or programs are not usually supported.
